Ways We Help

The Focus of Our Efforts

Tree of Giving

Our community donates new clothing and the Silverton Fire Dept. brings gifts to the children whose families qualify in our area, aging from newborn to 18.  This is a BIG project helping as many as 90 families and 250 children.  Our biggest expense is for teens because the toy drive provides little for teens, and there are usually a few tags left on our trees for teenage boys.  The remaining club expense is approximately $4,000.  The end result of our effort is overwhelmingly satisfying knowing that no family will go without for the holidays.

Hospital Layettes

Silverton Legacy Hospital serves maternity patients from Silverton, Mt. Angel, Woodburn, and beyond.  On many occasions a mother will present at the hospital with nothing for her baby, so our club provides layette bundles for the nurses to distribute when they identify a need.  We put together 150 layette bundles per year.  Generous members of our community make quilts and receiving blankets and club purchases the clothing.  We host a community Bingo Night in the fall to help fundraise for this project.  Our yearly budget for this project is $1,200.

Town Square Park

Maintaining a Lovely Outdoor Space

Each year our club helps to maintain the park.  Members weed and work on the park.  Each spring we have a work party in which we collaborate with Silverton High School and seniors come to help.  We provide bark dust and supplies needed for this project.  Annual budget has been $500.  There is no way of estimating the number of people who benefit, but the park is enjoyed by many locals and tourists alike!

Bunco is a fun community event that helps raise funds for our great causes.  It's a great way to meet new friends and enjoy the company of others during early Spring.

Through initiations and installations we have a chance to welcome our new members and officers to our club.  These women vow to serve through volunteerism and help our club grow with fresh ideas and personal talents.
